This December, we are celebrating our 20th anniversary, an incredible milestone that marks two decades of growth, innovation and collaboration.

From a two-person start-up in 2005 to a trusted technology partner supporting clients across the UK, our journey is one defined by progress, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Early Days (2005–2009): Laying the Foundations

Fusion was founded in 2005, by Tim Stock and James Tyler. Back then, managed IT support was our sole focus and our very first deal was with a Leadership Training company to install a Small Business Server, an all-in-one system that, at the time, was the equivalent of a private cloud. It was a glimpse of the future that we would one day help businesses to embrace.

By 2006, we landed our first major education contract with a technology college in Shoeburyness. Our team implemented a large-scale CITRIX rollout, an innovative virtual desktop solution at the time, supporting hundreds of computers and helping to modernise the school’s infrastructure. This project marked the beginning of several long-term partnerships with Technology Colleges across the region.

In 2007, we achieved our first Microsoft Partner Accreditation, solidifying our place as a trusted provider of Microsoft-based solutions. Two years later, in 2009, we began offering VMware solutions, taking our virtual desktop offering one step further.

Growth and Innovation (2010–2015): Expanding Expertise

2010 saw the arrival of Simon Mayes, an accomplished Level 3 Engineer who quickly became a key member of the Fusion team.

We then launched the first iteration of the Fusion Client Portal in 2011, giving our customers easy access to their first-class support. Around the same time, we began offering CYBEROAM firewalls, a move that laid the groundwork for our growing cybersecurity capabilities.

By 2013, we had fully embraced cloud services, becoming an early adopter of Microsoft 365. Our partnership with SOPHOS, a leading cybersecurity provider began in 2014, marking the start of our dedicated cybersecurity journey, which officially launched as its own service line in 2015. From that point on, cybersecurity became a central pillar of our business, continually evolving to keep our clients protected from an ever-changing threat landscape.

Compliance, Cloud, and Continued Growth (2016–2020)

When the government first announced the GDPR framework in early 2016, we quickly stepped up to help clients prepare for compliance ahead of the 2018 rollout. This was the start of our compliance services, which have since expanded into multiple areas.

In 2017, we launched our own private cloud solution, complete with an in-house data centre for hosting client servers and desktops. This was a significant step forward in our cloud journey, and by 2018, we began offering Microsoft Azure as a more scalable option for our customers.

In 2019, we rolled out our first AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) solution, demonstrating our continued dedication to innovation and client-focused progress.

Then, in 2020, Tim joined EVOLVE, a professional community for managed service providers (MSPs) that has supported our company’s journey ever since. Through EVOLVE, Tim has also been able to share his expertise, collaborate with industry peers, and help shape the future of cloud services. He continues to offer consultancy and mentorship to other MSPs, reflecting our ethos of giving back and continuous learning.

The Modern Era (2021–Present): Evolving for the Future

The last few years have seen us expand our services even further.

In 2021, we launched Fusion Learn, offering our clients access to a library of bitesize training videos on popular computer applications as well as help with subjects that range from productivity and leadership to mindfulness and cybersecurity. A year later, in 2022, we added communications solutions to our portfolio,  providing everything from VoIP systems to integrated collaboration tools.

In 2024, we proudly received the ‘Partner of the Year’ Award from IT Nation, in recognition of our outstanding performance as a company, our high client satisfaction rate, our efforts to push the boundaries of IT support and our contribution to the IT support community.

Looking ahead, we will strive to continually evolve. We will be onboarding Assurix in early 2026, a platform designed to help MSPs maintain compliance and security best practices and by the end of next year, we plan to expand our offerings with a new AI and Automation Stack. This will further enhance our service capabilities and help our clients embrace the next generation of intelligent technology.

20 Years of Partnership and Progress

From humble beginnings to becoming a leader in IT support, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, Fusion Technology Solutions’ 20-year journey is one built on trust, innovation, and continuous improvement.

As we celebrate this major milestone, one thing remains the same: our commitment to helping businesses succeed through expert support and worry-free IT solutions.

Here’s to the next 20 years and a whole host of exciting things to come!
