Coriant is a dynamic and expanding force in industrial services, focused on the maintenance of assets across critical industries. With approximately 300 staff spread across seven office locations, the company has been on an exciting growth trajectory, including strategic acquisitions that have broadened their capabilities and market reach.

In early 2025, Coriant acquired TEi Industrial Services Ltd, a leading UK engineering construction company. This represented both an opportunity and a catalyst for change so Coriant sought Fusion’s expertise in delivering a comprehensive IT solution that would support sustainable growth and enhance security.

The Vision

Coriant had a clear ambition: to build an IT foundation that would support the company’s continued expansion, whilst delivering:

  • Reliable systems that enable staff to do their best work without IT being a constraint.
  • Security and compliance that protects the business and builds stakeholder confidence.
  • Scalability to absorb future acquisitions smoothly and efficiently.
  • Modern infrastructure befitting a forward-thinking, growing business.
  • A pathway to industry accreditations and emerging technologies.

All this would be delivered through a structured plan consisting of timed phases to maintain business continuity and steadily build momentum.

What we delivered

In November 2025, Coriant’s technology transformation began, with 5 interconnected phases planned over the course of the following four months.

Phase 1: Managed Services & Security Foundation (November 2025-January 2026)

Establishing a robust safety net was the first priority so Fusion deployed our managed helpdesk and 24/7/365 Security Operations Centre (SOC) across all of Coriant’s IT estate (servers, desktops and laptops) – offering continuous monitoring and support.

A comprehensive security framework was also established:

  • Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) for real-time threat visibility
  • Automated patch management to stay current with security updates
  • Email protection and SaaS backup to safeguard critical data
  • Password manager and security awareness training to build a security-conscious culture
  • Ransomware detection and response capabilities for protection against evolving threats

Fusion also managed the integration of TEi into Coriant’s IT system, migrating mailboxes and OneDrive data and transferring approximately 1TB of business data to Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. Preventing data loss and enabled the smooth transition of all 80 TEi staff.

Phase 2: Security Hardening & Compliance Preparation (December 2025–January 2026)

With the acquisition complete, the next step was to strengthen Coriant’s cloud security. We implemented:

  • Conditional Access policies across Microsoft 365 with mandatory multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Granular security controls protecting SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Azure
  • Territorial access policies to add an additional layer of protection
  • Device compliance enforcement ensuring only approved devices can access company resources

This laid the foundation for future compliance accreditations and demonstrated Coriant’s commitment to industry best practices.

Phase 3: Accreditation & Security Assessment (January-ongoing)

As part of Coriant’s vision to achieve industry accreditations, we have been helping them work towards their Cyber Essentials Plus Certification – a recognised industry standard that demonstrates commitment to cybersecurity excellence. We are conducting regular penetration tests across all seven office locations and vulnerability assessments to ensure their continuous improvement.

Phase 4: Cloud Transformation & Operational Excellence (February 2026)

We helped Coriant take the significant step in migrating their entire on-premises IT estate to Microsoft Azure. This included moving business-critical Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and payroll systems to Microsoft Azure.

This transition delivered immediate benefits. System reliability improved markedly. The ERP and payroll systems, now running on resilient cloud infrastructure, became noticeably more stable. Support ticket volumes declined as systems simply worked better and staff experienced fewer disruptions.

Phase 5: New Facilities & Modern Workspace (March 2026)

As Coriant had relocated to a brand-new head office, we refreshed their entire infrastructure with:

  • A 1Gbps leased line with enterprise-grade firewall, managed switches, and wireless infrastructure
  • Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing capabilities integrated into the new environment
  • Professional meeting spaces equipped with Yealink Meeting Board Pros, integrated scheduling, wireless presentation technology, and premium audio/video capabilities

Supporting Continued Growth

Since the completion of phase 5, we have supported Coriant with another acquisition, demonstrating that the systems put in place, scale effectively as the business grows.

The outcome

This project has delivered numerous impactful and measurable results for Coriant, including:

Enhanced Reliability: Once migration to Azure was complete, system stability improved significantly. The ERP and payroll systems now perform reliably and requests for support have noticeably declined.

Improved Security and Visibility: Genuine, real-time visibility has now been built into Coriant’s IT environment, with modern security controls in place and continuous activity monitoring. The business can confidently say their systems have not been compromised since February.

Better User Experience: Coriant’s staff have provided consistently positive feedback about the support they’ve received from Fusion:

  • “Fast, efficient, and professional help as always. Quick response and closed out the issue first time.”
  • “Excellent service, nothing is too much trouble. Great communication throughout.”
  • “Very helpful and professional. Issue resolved with expertise and patience.”
  • “Friendly, very quick at solving issues. Nothing was too much trouble.”

Streamlined Operations: Cloud migration has made operations more efficient and with simpler IT management and scalability built in, the business can grow without IT becoming a problem.

Strategic Positioning: Coriant is now positioned as a modern, professionally managed business. They have the infrastructure, security posture, and compliance pathway to support ambitious growth and technological innovation.

Looking ahead

Cybersecurity Posture: Coriant’s Cyber Essentials Plus Certification is progressing well, with completion targeted for summer 2026.

AI Readiness: With cloud infrastructure now in place and security controls embedded, Coriant is well-positioned to explore emerging technologies and AI-driven business solutions that could further enhance efficiency and decision-making.

Scalable Growth: The foundation we’ve built can absorb future acquisitions, additional staff, and expanded operations without requiring wholesale infrastructure changes.

Continuous Improvement: Our ongoing monitoring, threat detection, and regular security assessments ensure that Coriant remains protected against evolving threats while staying current with industry best practices.

In Summary

It has been a pleasure to partner with the team at Coriant and provide them with a modern, secure, scalable and future-ready IT foundation. They’re now protected by industry-leading security controls and an infrastructure that’s ready for whatever comes next.

Most importantly, Coriant can now focus entirely on what they do best: growing their business and serving their clients. IT is no longer a concern; it’s a competitive advantage.

5 signs your business has outgrown break-fix IT support

Break-fix IT support is often the starting point for many small businesses. When a problem occurs, an IT provider is contacted to resolve it, and the business pays for the work completed. While this approach can be suitable in the early stages, it often becomes less effective as a business grows and becomes more reliant on technology.
